ERT SAR
Emergency Response Team Search and Rescue (ERT SAR) is a UK-based international Emergency and Disaster Response Search & Rescue non-government organisation. Established to relieve suffering and distress among persons affected by hazards, risks, emergencies and disasters in the United Kingdom and across the globe. ERT SAR's operational members cross-train in several specialist and advanced subjects whilst also developing a strong base in Emergency Response and our role in the Disaster Response Cycle.
ERT SAR follows internationally established best practises and laws when deploying to rescue and help others in emergencies and disasters or in preparation of imminent hazards or risks.
ERT SAR provides many programmes year round at all levels, such as training courses, medical first responder services, community based and educational programmes, emergency services support, civil defence and civil protection services. We also provide disaster risk reduction strategies, resilience, support, assistance and event cover.
Founded on 1st December 2002 as a non-profit NGO by Gary Foo, ERT SAR gained charity status in 2004. It was originally known as OSAR (Oxfordshire Search & Rescue) and later changed to ERT Search and Rescue.
Our vision is a safer, more secure and prepared world against emergencies and disasters of all kinds.
ERT SAR has trained UN Coordinators, is a UN INSARAG LISTING SAR Team and is listed on the United Nations registry. ERT SAR is a legal entity and non-profit corporation limited by guarantee.
